About

Rachael Causer is an artist living and working in London. Her work deals with an interest in objects, in particular the domestic and overlooked, the detritus that is scattered and swept along in a large city such as London. She collects objects found on pavements and in empty supermarket trolleys – lists, dropped baby shoes, lost gloves and post-it notes. She is inspired by the traditions of craft and discipline, much of her practice exploring how routines dictate what we do. She works across a range of different media and is interested in working collaboratively with different groups, investigating the social function of art. Interested in taxonomies and narratives she is fascinated about piecing together stories and cataloguing the evidence of what we discard and what we choose to keep and why.
Having worked for many years in a variety of different settings, including schools, community groups and cultural institutions, Rachael is currently artist in residence at the Tavistock & Portman NHS Foundation Trust in north London.
